Pyrus calleryana 'Bradford' (Bradford Pear) - Deciduous

Size and Shape:

A medium sized tree typically growing to 11 metres tall and 9 metres wide, Pyrus calleryana 'Bradford' has a narrow and columnar shape.  Usually has a strong central leader and closely packed vertical limbs.

Features:

As with many other Ornamental Pears, the Bradford Pear flowers heavily in Spring.  It has incredible Autumn colour, with dark glossy green leaves, turning orange, red and burgundy towards the end of Autumn/beginning of Winter.  Fruit is inconspicuous.

Uses in the Landscape:

Resistant to pollution and tolerant of small soil spaces and occassional waterlogging, the Bradford Pear is excellent for difficult urban spaces where conditions are poor and there is minimal room for roots.  Also suitable for large planters.

Comments:

A very hardy tree that is tolerant of drought, compacted soil, intermittent waterlogging and pollution when established.  Grows best in full sun and requires protection from strong winds.

Availability:

The Bradford Ornamental Pears are grown in a range of advanced sizes from 1.5 metre semi-advanced plants up to 7 to 8 metre plus Super Advanced Specimen Trees.  For optimal long-term performance in the landscape, they are field grown in Root Control Bags and container grown in SpringRing Air Pruning Containers ranging from 25 litre to 1000 litre.  As our stock levels change daily, please enquire for current availability.
